Sania Mirza caried forward her good form from the previous year to guide Team India into the Fed Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group I for 2013. She also captured her second Grand Slam crown - the French Open with Mahesh Bhupathi - and reached partner Elena Vesnina and Bhupathi, in doubles and mixed doubles, respectively. Dragged into the ugly ego clashes and bickering between the AITA and some illustrious peers ahead of the London Olympics, she held her own and earned the respect of the tennis fraternity.
